Phillip and Kelsie’s black tie wedding took place in Brentwood and Nashville, Tennessee. They chose to have a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of Incarnation and their outdoor wedding reception at Ravenswood Mansion.
A traditional black tie Catholic wedding Ceremony and a timeless reception to follow at a beautiful, historic mansion? Count me in!
Ravenswood Mansion sounds pretty spectacular , right? It was! I’m a sucker for old historic buildings. There’s just something about the architecture back then. They don’t make buildings or homes like they used too, that’s for sure! The Ravenswood Mansion construction took 5 years. Can you imagine? They started the construction in 1825 and finished in 1830. Ladies and gentlemen…. Year 1830, crazy right? Ravenswood is certainly a hidden gem of a wedding venue outside of Nashville, Tennessee. From the outside of the mansion, to every room inside, the stair cases, fire place… this Nashville wedding venue is covered in character!
So in conclusion, if you love old historic buildings like myself, a wedding venue full of character… Ravenswood Mansion is for you!
I knew Phillip and Kelsie’s black tie wedding would be absolutely perfect from the moment we had their first consultation and then of course their engagement session! They are the sweetest, most down to earth couple and not to mention, absolutely gorgeous! Swear they could both be models!
We started the day off at Ravenswood Mansion when I first dove deep into all of the details! Kelsie had a box saved just for me when I got there that was full of all her wedding details. Basically a box full of goodies! Her white Dolce Vita heels that had a beautiful Pearl strap, simple yet elegant Pearl studs, My Way perfume by Armani (smelt so good!), a “The Mrs. Box”with an engraved monogram to show her new last name initial “L” and last (but not least) a sweet little Angel charm to bless her day and to show her faith. In addition to her details, all of Phillips details were in there too! Truly detail heaven!
While Kelsey was getting into her gown from Wedding Angels Bridal Boutique, her bridesmaids got into their dresses from Reverly. Kelsey chose to do a first look with her bridesmaids! It was so much fun! You could see her bridesmaids were and are her biggest cheerleaders, not to mention the greatest of friends. They were in awe when they saw her. How couldn’t you be?? She was a stunning bride.
Phillip and his groomsmen were in black tux’s by the Black Tux. They looked incredible!
Shortly after we did a first look with Kelsey’s LITTLE brother (so tall!) and her Dad. I’m sure you can tell by the photos how emotional it was for them and everyone around! Including her mama, who was there for it too. It was so special to witness. Kelsie, her brother, mom and dad- you could really see how close their family is. The bond that they have spoke volumes. It was truly the sweetest and hands down one of my favorite “first looks” I’ve ever experienced.
The Ceremony
The Cathedral is absolutely stunning. The architecture, artwork and the most beautiful lighting inside- it was no surprise to me Phillip and Kelsie wanted to say “I do” here. It was the most glorious backdrop on a wedding day.
The Reception
The reception area was ready when we got there too thanks to the most incredible Nashville based wedding planner, Sweetwater Events. Each table had a floral centerpiece by Westerhouse Weddings with Phillip and Kelsey’s color pallet – champagnes with hints of rust, oranges and greeneries to fill. To add character to the tables, they used orange glasses. It was so much fun!
After everyone was announced, which by the way, the bridal party went all out for announcements. They were hilarious! Each couple did something different. Anyhow, we jumped right into first dances when we had another sweet surprise! Phillip, who sings himself, wrote and produced his and Kelsie’s first dance called “Ring for You”. How incredible is that?!
Fast forward to sunset and we snuck away for some photos. You guys, I’m so happy we were able to fit this into the timeline because we got the most wonderful photos! Can’t you tell?!
And guys, it wouldn’t be a Nashville wedding if we didn’t have a live country band right? There was a live country band called The Roads Below and DJ Meritage Entertainment. Friends, they were so good and had everyone on the dance floor! This bridal party definitely danced the night away and it was amazing! Wouldn’t you agree there’s nothing like a great live band?
We ended the night with a sparkler exit right in front of the mansion.
Honestly, the day was perfect.
