5 Random Things Most Brides Forget to Pack in their Wedding Overnight Bag

We know, your list is a mile long. From your wedding date, to your wedding venue- wedding photographer- DJ, what color will your napkins be? Should I have chargers? What’s a charger? 

What I’m trying to get at is, it’s no surprise when your wedding day sneaks up on you, you’re scrambling for things to put in your wedding overnight bag. 

Wait, do I need a wedding overnight bag? Yes, yes you do. And no, not a plastic Publix shopping bag you found underneath your kitchen counter. Preferably a nice overnight bag. Anyways, back to our topic..

5 Random Things Most Brides Forget to Pack in their Wedding Overnight Bag

1. Getting ready robe or outfit

Don’t pull a me. On my wedding day, I ran around in a white towel I had thrown on after I’ve taken a shower to start the day. I know, a towel. Hey, at least it was white, right? And think about it, if you have your wedding photographer come for getting ready photos, do you really want to be dressed in a towel or even mismatched PJ pants and your future hubby’s baggy shirt? I don’t think so.  There’s so many other options that are easy to get your hands on! A comfy white bridal robe, a nice bridal PJ set, or if you’re feeling really up to the task, you and your entire bridal party can all match. Did I just stress you out with that one? Don’t let it! Let your MOH help you! Easy breezy. In conclusion, don’t be a me and have a towel on for your getting ready photos.

2. Scissors

Scissors, who would have thought! But honestly, you would be very surprised to see most of my brides and/ or bridal party scrounging around for anything to cut these tags off all of the dresses. I’ve seen it all! I’ve seen bridesmaids use nail clippers, hey not a bad idea. I’ve also seen bridesmaids up close and personal to their dress using their teeth. True story. So, don’t forget some good ol’ fashion scissors.

3. Writing utensils

Again, your list is a mile long so another not so surprising thing I’ve seen, writing your vows the day of. Totally ok! But most of the time, there’s no writing utensils to be found, and unless you want to read your vows off your phone, you need something to write with to copy those vows into your wedding vow booklets. Random, right? A pen? True though. Don’t forget writing utensils!

4. Lotion

This one, another very random something you shouldn’t forget. Lotion! Plus a good smelling lotion is always great to have for yourself and for your bridal party. 

5. Yarn Hook

What in the world is a yarn hook? A yarn hook is only necessary if you have a wedding gown with a trail of buttons that need to be fastened. Yarn hooks are lifesavers when you are getting into wedding gown, especially a lifesaver to whom ever is helping you get into your gown. There’s been too many times to count my mother of the bride or my maid or matron of honor could have really used a yarn hook, but instead put those fingers to the test. A yarn hook helps make things go so much smoother, faster and your bridal party will be thankful 🥲
